It has been an incredible 2019 summer season for the famed Ponderosa Sun Club so far and this past weeks 4th of July Independence Weekend added to the list of successful weekends to date. The nudist resort was full most of the week with members and visitors alike getting that sought after "all over" tan at the huge unique pool at the Ponderosa.
The folks at the "Grillin & Chillin" Sandwich and snack bar were busy serving poolside from the fourth, a Thursday this year, until Sunday afternoon after the Ponderosa Sun Club's annual Cardboard Regatta Race.
After a great 4th of July at the pool, Friday night got funny as the game "Cards of Humanity" was played at the pool pavilion with dozens of people saying some very funny and "odd" things. Every Friday night this season the Ponderosa is hosting either a Dart or Pool Tournament in our Recreation Hall or a spirited game of Cards of Humanity at the pool pavilion.
Saturday morning began early with Yoga and Meditation in the park led by Scarlett & Tony, then it was time for the annual Ponderosa Independence Day weekend golf-cart & bicycle parade. The parade route took everyone around the camp streets while patriotic music played. The pool area was packed all day and besides a short summer shower the all over sunbathing was at a peak. Once the sun started to go down the buzz began for all the members and visitors as it was almost time for the annual fireworks show, the golf carts lined up along the show field and Info Rich and his pyrotechnics crew prepared for one the biggest fireworks shows in the area, yes even bigger than some of the surrounding cities. The night ended with the Red, White, and Blue Dance with DJ Happin' Harry at the events pavilion. The holiday weekend wrapped up nicely with the annual Jewelry Bazaar followed by the highly anticipated Ponderosa Cardboard Regatta race at the pool. The races were a blast and the boats were all very unique and innovative. We can tell you that the stock price in duct-tape should have gone up in value just from the race. Next weekend July 12-15 is our Toga party and themed dance, a lighter party weekend with our 44th annual Nudes A Poppin Festival happening July 20-21. Entry for the festival can still be gained at the gate, the tickets are $60.00 a day.
