Ponderosa is a friendly, warm, relaxing place to visit for a short vacation. You can use our club's recreational activities in secure and private surroundings. Stay a day, a weekend or the rest of your life. The purpose of the club is to promote health and happiness for its members. Ponderosa Sun Club is a family oriented nudist resort (not clothing optional) located in rural Roselawn Indiana on 88 wooded acres. Having opened in 1965, the focus of the club's activities is our 65' wide by 120' long swimming pool with concrete sunning apron and formal garden.

Our facilities include

We have slides, swings, monkey bars and sand boxes for the enjoyment of our younger visitors. Several cabins and trailers are available for overnight guests, and we have plenty of campsites with or without hook-ups at reasonable rates. We have two full service bath houses. Ground fires are not permitted, so if you wish to cook out, bring a grill or camp stove. Alcoholic beverages are permitted (in moderation, but Please NO GLASS containers).

Ponderosa's Pool varies in depth from about 6 inches at the edge of the 65 foot diameter circular portion to about 5 feet at its center, continuing down the straight section to a depth of about 9 feet. This provides comfort and safety for persons of all ages and swimming ability, as well as a great place to relax in the water and have a conversation with friends.

Other Activities At Ponderosa Sun Club
Horse Shoes at Ponderosa Horse Shoes are another very popular activity at Ponderosa, with 2 Horse shoe pits available for practice or Tournament Play.  The two concrete Tennis courts are kept busy as well. Two shuffleboard courts are available one tennis court

Volleyball at Ponderosa

Sand Court Volley Ball is played almost every weekend and some of our players really get into the spirit of the game, but the court is seldom used during the colder months.

Non Member Daily Grounds Fees for a Family Couple or a Single Male or Single Female visitor are
(Mon - Thurs) ---- $30.00                              (Fri - Sun) ---- $35.00
(Limited numbers of Singles will be admitted)

Overnight Primitive (no Electricity) Camping sites are available for $10.00 per night
Overnight Camping sites (with Electricity) are available for $15.00 per night
Overnight RV sites (for RV's with Air Conditioning) are available for $25.00 per night (1 air conditioner)
Overnight RV sites (for RV's with Air Conditioning) are available for $35.00 per night (2 air conditioners)

Members are welcome anytime, visitors between May 15 and September 15

We are located approximately 50 miles south east of Chicago Illinois, and approximately 70 Miles north of Indianapolis Indiana (2 miles west of Interstate 65 and 1/2 mile north of Route 10).

  1. Exit Interstate 65 at the Roselawn/DeMotte, Route 10 exit (mile marker 230) going west toward Roselawn. In two miles you will cross a set of railroad tracks.
  2. Turn North (right) on the next road, and proceed one half mile to the gate of Ponderosa Sun Club.

We are approximately 40 minutes from Merrillville, Indiana with a full collection of malls, stores and restaurants

What to expect at a nudist resort

People often wonder what to expect at Ponderosa Sun Club.
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions.

What should I bring?

For your convenience, our snack bar is open weekends, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Bags of ice can be purchased at the gate house.

My body is far from perfect. I am concerned people may make fun of me.
People come in all shapes and sizes. You are judged by your personality - not by your body. People seek friends by who they are.
My wife/girlfriend is nervous about visiting a nudist camp for the first time.
It's normal to be somewhat nervous on your first visit. Female guests are allowed to disrobe at their discretion on their first visit. Please bear in mind, that NO clothing is permitted in the swimming pool. At the Ponderosa Sun Club, we maintain a relaxed and family environment. We want you to feel comfortable and at home during your visit.
What if I accidentally get physically excited?
A public erection is not acceptable. 99% of men do not experience this problem, If you happen to be in that 1%, we suggest that you cover up with a towel or take a discreet cold shower until it subsides.
What are the Sun Club's hours?
Visitors are welcome May 15 thru September 15, of course members may come out anytime during the year. You need to arrive between 8AM & 6PM.
How old are the people who come to the Ponderosa Sun Club?
The ages vary from newborn to late 80's. Our wide age range means everyone has the opportunity for new friends their own age.
How do children react to public nudity?
Children adapt very well. They love the pool and the large playground.
